like that white leftist greek christian bitch who talks as if india is the only nation with a fascist country on the planet and as if indians are all oppressive savages who’ll ruin the rest of the world. bitch, if india is so bad, why the fuck is she staying there, living there, and getting an education there? go back to greece or the US! there are plenty of fascists there for her to contend with! and it’s so chauvinistic bc it just ignores all the work that indian leftists/communists, indian revolutionary feminists, indian lgbtq activists, and all the dalit-bahujan-adivasi activists who are engaging in REAL work and combatting fascism in the country.
and then all these fucking asshole white people who travel to india for vacation, to “find themselves”, to engage in tourism…. they go to the country and eat all the food and take advantage of the people’s hospitality and fawn over the art and architecture while they say the most awful, terrible things about the country and the people.
india has a whole host of problems. as do many other countries in the east. i’m not denying that. but white people have NO moral high ground to state these things from. and they really shouldn’t go to india if they’re going to dehumanize the people like this.
and this doesn’t just go for india - it goes for every nonwestern country that white leftists live in to make sanctimonious, chauvinistic, and racist comments about, every white academic/scholar who makes money off of “studying” the people, and every white tourist who travels to the country and hates the people while leeching off the country’s labor. bc this shit happens in sri lanka, thailand, south africa, kenya, peru….. literally throughout the global south!
so can homestuck go the way of minecraft now? can we exile hussie to a cabin somewhere cold and just all pretend he died while he periodically tweets antisemitic shit to a bunch of inactive accounts and bots?
the difference in these situations is minecraft doesnt have the nazi bullshit IN it, its just a crafting survival game. notch also hasnt had any creative control over it for years. homestuck has the racist antisemitic bullshit in it everywhere. the content itself is bad, not just the author.
so my brother was telling me about this human resources certification he attended a while ago. in a panel, the panelist asked a bunch of people in attendance, “who here knows if an applicant for a job is right for it in under 60 seconds?”
hands shot up around the room, people smug about their ability to “weed out the riff-raff” when it came to hiring for their fortune 500.
“you should all be fired and probably in jail,” they said, waiting for the whole room to get uncomfortable, then continued, “because the only things you can really learn about a human being in under 60 seconds are all things that are fueled by prejudices and biases covered by american law. so now, i will teach you how to stop being racist, sexist, judgmental assholes and hire people that will better your company of employ.”

This is a good example of why study after study after studyhas shown that discrimination against racialized people looking for work is very real. Oh, and don’t get too smug if you’re not in the USA - similar studies have shown that the same shit happens in Canada, Germany, the UK, Sweden - basically in every country you can think of.
